Hi, I’m Matthew Becerra

I am a student multimedia journalist and photographer who covers skateboarding, local music/community and a number of other topics. I founded Burgundy Magazine which focuses on telling the stories of individual skaters and artists who are often overlooked, but integral to their scenes.

In my time at Cal Poly Pomona I worked at our student newspaper, The Poly Post, where I was a staff writer and later promoted to copyeditor. While working at The Poly Post, my editorial team won the second-best newspaper in California from the California College Media Association and I was awarded with first place for multimedia packages.

Looking ahead, my goal is to continue documenting communities and subcultures in print and digital mediums working for magazines and newspapers.
